The Story:
Originally dedicated on May 7, 1932, the bronze plaque and a Washington Elm tree were a gift to the Northfield Carnegie Library given by Josiah Edson Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. After the death of the tree, the plaque went into storage
and was lost.
Three Iowa women found it at a sale in Iowa and returned the plaque to the Josiah Edson Chapter. Today as we remember those whose work went before us, we rededicate the original plaque and dedicate a Patriot Elm with its own plaque.
